Sunrise in Alcoy

I escaped the everyday hustle in the city and went to my parent's ancestral home in Alcoy, Cebu. It has been a long time since I had a vacation. Before the pandemic, I had plans to travel but was scrapped. The pandemic caused to much stress and anxiety to that I wanted to have a little breather and relax. Corona has changed the world we knew before and whether we like it or not, this would be around for awhile. When border controls were lifted, I really wanted to have a vacation in the countryside to rethink and reflect life and plans.

I enjoyed a cup of coffee while watching the sun to rise. The warmth is refreshing and rejuvenating. The fresh breeze on a foggy morning makes me indulge in my thoughts. I missed the slow paced of the province life where you can appreciate the beauty of day as it unfolds. No work deadlines to hustle and everything is not in rush.

I wake up with the beautiful golden rays of sunrise and not worrying on my work schedule. The shades of coconut trees are like an intricate piece of art. The whistles of siloy (black shamans) brings some good memories of my childhood's summer vacation. It has been awhile to hear this little creatures.

The golden rays sends a message of hope and good fortune. I was reminded that no matter how cold the nights, there is a warm sunrise at the morning. We can looked forward to the beauty of mornings after a stormy night. The sun's ray never fails to warm us.

I have enjoyed my five days and four night stay at my parent's ancestral house in Alcoy. I had a good laugh and talk after a months long lockdown. Video calls can never translate the warmth of a personal conversation. The sunrise always reminded me of the good things in life.
